The swoosh brand Nike has decided to pay tribute to the late basketball player Kobe Bryant, who would have celebrated his 42nd birthday on 24 August 2020.
Since the tragic announcement 7 months ago of the death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna in a helicopter crash on Sunday 26 January, the world of basketball has not been the same.
Appreciated by his teammates, his fans, his heir to the LeBron James Lakers, his family, Black Mamba leaves a huge void. There has been a shower of tributes for the Lakers No. 24 and it continues with his Nike teammate. Indeed, the Swoosh brand has decided to celebrate the late basketball player by launching Mamba Week on 23 August, Kobe’s birthday, in the same way, that Mamba Day is held every year in Los Angeles on 24 August (the 24th for his Lakers number).
On this occasion, the American equipment manufacturer will make a donation of one million dollars to the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation, co-founded by Mamba to help young people in difficulty and women basketball players, and market products bearing the Kobe logo, including five models of the Kobe V Protro pair, a limited edition Lakers City Edition collector’s jersey.
What is certain is that even after his death, the legacy and passion for this incredible player remains considerable. RIP Black Mamba.
