Get ready, season 2 of The Mandalorian will not have much to do with the premiere. According to Jon Favreau, its creator, the story of Baby Yoda and Mando will take a more epic turn with a much more developed universe. Thank you Game of Thrones. Beware spoilers.
On October 30th, Disney+ will (finally) start broadcasting season 2 of The Mandalorian. A much-awaited return of the fans which should satisfy everyone. Jon Favreau, the showrunner, has indeed entrusted it to EW, after a contemplative season 1 which was content to set the stakes, the rest of the story will move to another level.
“The new season will introduce a much broader global story into this world,” he promised. “The plots will be less isolated from each other, even though each episode will have its own flavor“. Jon Favreau then confided, aware of the somewhat frustrating stalemate of the first episodes, this year’s objective is to make this universe grow, “Everything is getting bigger. The stakes are higher, and the personal story between the Child and the Mandalorian is also developing in a way that I think people should enjoy“.
A Game of Thrones-style
With this opening desire, this season 2 of The Mandalorian will thus see the series deviate (a little) from its usual duet in order to integrate many new characters. And the good news is that they won’t just be used as sets and to do the number on the screen, “As more characters are introduced, opportunities to follow different stories will open up.“
In his words, Favreau and his team simply drew inspiration from a famous HBO series to bring real rhythm to the story and a real sense of adventure to the screen, “The world was really captivated by Game of Thrones and how the series evolved as the characters went through their own stuff. It’s really something that appeals to me.”
Will The Mandalorian really embark on a Game of Thrones-style narrative? If so, we can expect great things in the future!
